Francesca Pascale, Silvio Berlusconi's 28-year-old fiancée gives gushing interview about their romance
Silvio Berlusconi and Francesca Pascale.

Silvio Berlusconi's fiancée says the former Italian prime minister treats her "like a princess" and is like a "shield that protects me" in her first interview about their romance since she moved into his luxurious Rome villa.
Speaking to Italian gossip magazine Gente, Francesca Pascale, 28, also rejected recent claims by Bulgarian actress, Michelle Boney, that her relationship with the 77-year old billionaire was a "sham".

Miss Pascale said she was considering defamation proceedings after the actress claimed the two women had had a relationship.

"They can throw all the mud they want at me, but I am sure this will not break our relationship or cloud the image he has of me," Miss Pascale said.

"I feel secure. I have a shield that protects me: his name is Silvio Berlusconi. I sincerely love him and he will protect me against this mud-slinging."

Last week Miss Pascale officially transferred to Palazzo Grazioli, where he once entertained showgirls at lavish parties.

Michaela Biancofiore, an MP and one of Mr Berlusconi's allies from his People of Freedom Party (PDL), said their love for each other was undeniable.

"Francesca has always demonstrated admiration for Mr Berlusconi, her dream was find a way to his heart," she said. "One day when we were at a meeting with young PDL members, she cried out of jealousy over what she was seeing and reading in the newspapers about his activities."

In the interview Miss Pascale admitted she was "very jealous" about her companion "because all young women in love can feel drawn to greatness".

Meanwhile there are reports that Mr Berlusconi is now proposing his daughter Marina, chairman of his Fininvest empire and one of Europe's richest women, replace him as party leader in a bid to unite his conservative party.

Mr Berlusconi floated the idea of a dynastic succession after the relaunch of Forza Italia, the centre-right party that brought him to power two decades ago, according to La Repubblica.

Ms Berlusconi is married to a former male ballerina with La Scala in Milan, and has a high public profile in Italy – she is the president of Mondadori, a publishing firm owned by her father.
